What Can Put Gluten in a Mustard

Mustard starts with mustard seed, and mustard seed has no gluten. Most of what goes in with it, like vinegar, water, salt, sugar and spices, has none either.

Gluten gets in through a few ingredients some mustards add: beer, malt vinegar (malt comes from barley) and wheat flour used to thicken. If a mustard has one of those, it may not be gluten free. The ingredient list and a gluten-free mark on the label tell you.

This is a gourmet horseradish mustard with a sweet base. The heat level is mild to medium and won't wipe out your sinuses.
