What Is in the Jar
Creamy, sweet, and a little spicy
This is our original creamy sweet mustard, similar to a honey mustard, with a little spice to it.
In 1935 my Grandmother Adora Spencer created it. My grandfather loved it so much that we decided to name it after him, but Adora should really be getting all the credit.
A 9oz jar is $9.00. Gluten free, like all three of our flavors.
Where It Started
A family recipe, then a farmers market table
We first sold it in 2010 at the St Charles Farmers Market, because it was just too good to keep to ourselves. The horseradish and the hot and spicy came along in October of 2014.
Its label won a bronze medal for Label & Packaging at the 2012 World-Wide Mustard Competition at the National Mustard Museum. See the awards.
What to Put It On
Start here and go from there
Excellent on sliced meat sandwiches or anything you can cook on the smoker or the grill. It can also be used in recipes for potato salad, deviled eggs or anything else. Let your imagination go crazy.
- Smoked pulled pork, with a whole jar as the binder.
- Ham and sharp cheddar on rye.
- Potato salad and deviled eggs, in place of the mayonnaise or in the filling.
- Brats with sauerkraut.
- A charcuterie board, with all three flavors out.
Common Questions
The ones we get asked at the table
What does Original Sweet & Spicy mustard taste like?
Creamy and sweet, similar to a honey mustard, with a little spice to it.
Is this the original family recipe?
Yes. My Grandmother Adora Spencer created it in 1935, and it is the recipe we started selling in 2010. The horseradish and the hot and spicy came along in 2014.
What do you put it on?
Sliced meat sandwiches and anything you cook on the smoker or the grill. It goes into potato salad and deviled eggs, and I use a whole jar as the binder on a smoked pork butt.
Is sweet and spicy mustard the same as honey mustard?
Not the same, but close in feel. Ours is creamy and sweet like a honey mustard, with a little spice that a honey mustard usually does not have.
Is it gluten free?
Yes. All three of our mustards are gluten free.
How much is a jar?
A 9oz jar is $9.00.
